Mitch + Kyla: A Destination Wedding

Updated: Apr 1, 2020

This one was a unique request. Two photographers - both first shooters.

I shot alongside Love, Lily a photographer from Fountain Valley, California (and my soulmate). Two photographers with very different editing styles. I would describe Lily's editing approach as bright and airy, with a splash of colour. Mitch & Kyla wanted both of us to shoot & edit our photos ourselves, giving them quite the variety in galleries.

Lily and I spent our first few days in Mexico, interacting with the wedding guest and scoping out locations when we had the chance. We were also invited to the dinner rehearsal - which gave us the opportunity to observe lighting conditions & angles for the ceremony; a chance I will never turn down when presented.

I have never worked with another photographer before their wedding day, and it was certainly an added bonus; I loved having the opportunity of getting angles of the wedding party looking into Lily's camera, while shooting them from the side. Being photographer, you have to be quick on your feet at going from one pose to the next - Lily gave me a chance to recharge between moments.

The wedding itself was beautiful. Mitch and Kyla bring the perfect balance of class and fun.

They walked down the aisle to Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap. I love it when people add their own personal touches to their wedding day, or break-free from wedding traditions. For Mitch, a musician, it only made sense for this to be their song. I might be biased in loving beautifully curated weddings - but it's these sort of touches that really make your big day, your own.

One of my favourite details included the sparklers left for each guest at the table, to be lit at 11:11pm. As they now share the last "Sparks".

Truly thank you, Mitch + Kyla for taking me on your biggest adventure yet, I am so honoured to have been a part of it.

And thank you Lily, for being such a gem to work with.
