It Takes a Village: A Vow Renewal

They say "it takes a village to raise a child", well I think the same can be said when it comes to planning a major life event during a pandemic - the vow renewal of Alyssa + Matt was no exception. These two had their original plans to get married derailed by COVID-19, and Matt surprised Alyssa with a wedding that he planned all on his own. So when Alyssa contacted me a year later to say they wanted to renew their vows and have the celebration they didn't get to have, I was 1

    The Studio

I can't believe it's been over a year since I've blogged anything - but this was something to dust of the ol' blog for. The studio was something I dreamed of opening since I started photography, however I never thought it would actually happen. When I walked into this space when it was a retail location (in January of 2021) I was kicking myself for not finding it and renting it first. Then, come October 2021, when I heard it was available, I KNEW I had to jump on the opportun

Adeline + Brandon: Coutts Centre Wedding

So I'm like a year and a few months late at writing this blog...but better late than never - right? The pandemic has given me time to reminisce on some of my favourite days from 2019. I BELIEVE this was only my fourth wedding - looking back on these I realise how much my editing has changed in a year and a few months! Growth is wild, folks. A lot of couples fret about the weather on their wedding day...and lets just say - this day was POURING!! Regardless, it made for some of

    First Newborn Shoot during COVID-19

I gotta say, I'm usually pretty hands-on for newborn session, snuggling and calming your baby...but with the hands-off COVID sessions it's been pretty hard! I must say that the parents I've guided through swaddling their babies though, have been PROS! I did not swaddle Colton for his newborn session, because his squishy 6-week goodness was too delicious to hide. The pro about doing late newborn photos means a little extra chunk, and a little more smiles. I'm not complaining a

    Family Photos: The Carrell Family

Note: For the privacy of the family I will only be using the initials of the kids' first names. The Carrell Family gave me the opportunity to do best of both worlds - an intimate at-home session, and then a fun outdoors session. Can we just take a moment to appreciate how perfectly they nailed dressing for family photos?! Also I can't help but love a good flat-brimmed hat. Courtney killed it! Toddlers can be challenging, and anyone who has ever been around a toddler will know

Lifestyle Newborn Photography: William with the Good Hair

Have you ever seen a baby have so much hair, that the hospital actually gives the parents a comb?? I'm not talking a "baby brush" - I mean a full-sized, adult comb. I have a lot a of newborns who don't want to sleep their whole session, where the parents panic and say "oh my goodness, have you ever dealt with this before?!" my answer is "yes...I am more surprised when a baby DOES sleep the whole session." William was one of those babies who did sleep his whole session - and I

5 Reasons Why I Switched to Lifestyle Photography

I started doing newborn photography back in November of 2015. With being new to the industry, I just followed suit; putting babies in buckets and bowls, shaping them like clay into different positions, pulling out my hair as I tried to get them to sleep... It's not that I didn't know how to do this type of newborn photography (see below), it's that it was stressful, and I was never happy with the outcome - inevitably leading me to falling out of love with photography. As of O
